What is it used for?

Bikes aren't often used for shopping because most don't carry loads well. The standard bike can be set up with a trailer and front tub in about 5 minutes and can carry 100 l of luggage, set up like this it can lap up shopping jobs. Once at the shops, the trailer can be separated from the bike to be used as a shopping cart.

Standard bike, small frame extensions to hold front tub, Trailer. 2 Frame units and tray for load

There are many manufacturers of bike trailers out there, the Bob Yak springs to mind as the most famous. Bikes for hauling large loads (and children!) include the Bakfiets , and Moz has built a lot of load carrying bikes. "Low Gravity bikes" is a term for a bike with a tub over the front wheel.
