The Long Wheelbase
The Long Wheelbase
Long wheelbase bikes were among the first available recumbents with manufacturers such as Tour Easy, Peer Gynt and Linear all producing fine bikes of this type. The Long Wheelbase makes for a very relaxed, stable ride, and it is very simple to stop at traffic lights and put your feet solidly on the ground
What can it used for?
As a stylish, relaxed touring bike, with plenty of room for luggage at the front.
What's needed to make it?
2 frame units, a steering link and a recumbent seat. Note that if a rider is large a special extended front frame is required to make the necessary leg length.
What can be added or changed?
The steering can be changed from linked over-seat steering to direct tiller steering. A luggage carrier (large box) can be added to the front. This bike includes most of the parts required for a recumbent tandem.
What else can I buy that's like it?
